Biography

Samira Badran is a visual artist based in Martorelles Spain. She explores the layers of oppression and structures of control, the notion of collective memory, the fragmentation of the body and the land, and the barriers and forms of restriction are persistent motives in her artistic creations.
Her film “Memory of the Land” won the Nazra Palestine award in 2008 in Italy, and Handala award at Al-Ard festival 2020 in Italy.

Badran’s works have been acquired by the following institutions, “Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, Fondazione O.N.L.U.S” Fiesole in Italy, Barjeel Art Foundation in Sharjah- UAE, Ramzi & amp; Saeda Dalloul Art Foundation in Beirut- Lebanon, Birzeit University Museum, Birzeit- Palestine, Jordan National Gallery in Amman- Jordan, The Khalid Shoman Foundation in Darat Al-Funun Amman -Jordan.

Moreover, her work has appeared in The Palestinian Museum and Al Qattan foundation in the Occupied Palestine; the Jordan National Gallery and Darat Al funun and Shoman foundation in Amman- Jordan; Musée du Luxembourg in Paris- France; The Great Hall Gallery and Gallery Whitebox Art Center in New York- USA; The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington in D.C.- U.S.A; participated in the “Breaking the Veil: Women Artists from the Islamic World” Exhibition which toured through Greece in Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, and France; Kulturhaus, Dock4, Kassel in Germany; Bagno a Ripoli in Florence, Italy, Comune di Busto Arsizio in Milan- Italy, Centro Internazionale Multimedia in Salerno, Italy; Chelsea Library in London- UK; Foreign Ministry of Berlin in Berlin- Germany; Gallery Pa’ tothom and Nova Espai Àgora Catalunya in Barcelona- Spain.

Born in 1954 in Libya She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo- Egypt (71- 76) and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence- Italy (78-82).
